Abstract

Four-bar and six-bar linkages are optimized to maximize output rotation for a given input rotation. A penalty function technique is used to incorporate the inequality constraints into the solution. The constraints restrict linkage size, insure closure of the. linkage, eliminate dead points and prevent reversal of the output rotation. Constraints, also, control the necessary input force by limiting the pressure angle and mechanical advantage. [...]
