Abstract

This paper proposes to demonstrate that Saudi Arabia has been able to influence U. S. foreign policy toward the Arab - Israeli conflict. The argument is carried out in view of the existance of a wide range of economic and political factors which have gained the kingdom leverage with the U.S. These include Saudi Arabias natural resources and increasing economic wealth and power, the orientation and tactics of its leadership, the common desire of Saudi Arabia and the United States to stabilize the region and curb communist proliferation there, and the susceptability of U. S. foreign policy, in the Middle East to pressures from the outside environment. [...]
