Abstract

Problem. The purposes of this investigation were to determine the methods and procedures used in planning and coordinating the University Interscholastic League literary events in the junior high schools of Texas. Major emphasis was also given to the benefits students receive from participating and the factors that limit or prevents a school from including the events in its schedule of activities. Specifically, the major problems were: 1. To determine the reasons junior high schools of Texas (a) provide opportunities for students to participate in these events with reference to values received and (b) do not provide these opportunities with reference to factors that hinder or limit participation.
