Analytic functions of matrices

This paper is primarily concerned with the construction of analytic functions of matrices. This is done by constructing polynomials in matrices and then extending this construction by the use of Taylor's series and finally by the Cauchy integral formula. We then proceed to develop an operational calculus for matrices. Once the operational calculus is obtained, we show some uses of these functions as applied in matrix theory and differential equations.
