Abstract

The purpose of this study was threefold: (1) to obtain a develpmental case history, psychological study, school data and anecdotal records, pediatric study, neurological evaluation, and psychiatric report on a child with minimal brain injury and an emotional overlay; (2) to formulate a plan to teach this child to read and eliminate his emotional blocking; and (3) to evaluate the child's progress at the end of a three year period for maturity of his neurological change. This child was the only one in a small school that he attended who was available and diagnosed by a team to have minimal brain injury and an emotional overlay; therefore, his unique case was compared to research into available literature. A careful study was made of his school background-school data, tests, grades, and teaching methods.
