Abstract

THick Gaseous Electron Mulitpliers (THGEM) are used to create significant gain and increase energy resolution in particle detection. Being able to see distinctions of energy values is important in for any detector, but especially important when there is a lot of static in the background; such as in the case of detecting neutrinos or WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles, the leading contender for dark matter). In this poster, I will discuss important factors that determine the effectiveness of THGEMs including their geometry and operation voltage.
