Human potential : study of locus of control, sex role orientation and career maturity

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between locus of control orientation and sex-role orientation as they relate to women’s career maturity. Sixty-one undergraduate junior and senior women attending classes at the University of Houston volunteered as subjects. The subjects were administered the Personal Attributes Questionnaire, the Rotter I-E Scale and the Career Maturity Inventory Attitude Scale. A correlation coefficient indicated a significant inverse relationship between level of career maturity and level of locus of control. Also a significant inverse relationship was indicated between career maturity and femininity. No statistically significant relationship was found for career maturity and masculinity. A regression analysis indicated the locus of control measure to be the most valid predictor of career maturity.
