Abstract

The Washington Conference of 1922 was the first general conference of World Powers ever held in the United States. It marked our participation in international affairs as a world power of the first rank. Its aims were two-folds to bring about a limitation of armaments on the part of the principal Allied and Associated Powers; and to solve Pacific and Far Eastern problems by a concerted effort on the part of nine nations, including the United States, the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan Belgium, China, The Netherlands, and Portugal.
