Abstract

This dissertation is an analytical study of the behavior of a vertical pile subjected to dynamic, lateral, periodic surface loading. A rational approach is proposed in which the pile response is represented by the vibrations of a beam on elastic foundation. The foundation media is considered an elastic half space which expresses the characteristics of soil deposits. Recent developments on the dynamic properties of soils are introduced to describe the behavior of the foundation soils. [...]
