Abstract

Many real, physical control systems can only be described by high order, large dimensional, multiple input-output transfer function matrices. The difficulties in analysis and synthesis of such large systems arise from their interactive effects and large scale. These difficulties can be overcome by obtaining a low order model from a high order multivariable system. An algebraic method is proposed in this research to obtain the reduced model by means of matrix continued fraction of three Cauer matrix forms. A complete computer oriented algorithm is established for the computation. Several examples are included.
