Abstract
The performance of a digital communication system with physically realizable filters will be studied by examining the output at every stage of the system. To offset the sluggishness of a high-order filter response, the concept of a processor delay in the integrate-sample-and-dump processor of the detector is investigated. Expressions for the intersymbol interference caused by the neighboring signals will be determined. Observations will be made on three particular systems in terms of their average probabilities of error and processor delays.
