Item Francis Richard Lubbock(1954) Nelson, Victor James; Shearer, Ernest C.; Ransom, Crisler B.; Miller, Murray A.Francis Richard Lubbock was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, on October 16, 1515, and attended school until he was fourteen years of age. He moved to Houston, Texas, and was one of the first to have a business establishment in that city. Lubbock was elected to the district clerk's office and was continually elected to this office until, he became lieutenant governor. He became governor of Texas and did all he could to support the Confederates in the Civil War. He did not run for re-election, but joined the Confederate army and became aide-de-camp to President Jefferson Davis. He was later captured and spent eight months in prison. [...]
