Item Data acquisition processing, and structural interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data from the Woodada Gas Field, Western Australia(1986) Frey, Susan E.; McDonald, John A.; Butler, John C.; Gardner, Gerald H. F.; Uren, Norm F.On previous seismic interpretations based on poor quality seismic data, confusion had existed about fault orientation and structure between Indoon-I and Woodada-9 within the Perth Basin of Western Australia. Consequently, a combination of a conventional 2D seismic line and single-fold 3D seismic survey were highly applicable to resolving this geologic problem. Processing of 2D seismic data utilized conventional multifold stacking to image the subsurface. Processing of 3D seismic data utilized software developed at the Allied Geophysical Laboratories entitled "L0F0LD3D." This single-fold 3D seismic data tested L0F0LD3D software and evaluated this method of data acquisition. It was found that low fold 3D seismic surveys work well in areas of high signal-to-noise ratio. Improvements in velocity filtering through linearization and creation of an effective pre-processing sequence improved this low fold technique in those areas of marginal signal-to-noise ratio. After processing, it was found that correctly binned 3D data were adequate enough to delineate geologic structures. Migration of both 2D and 3D data tended to obscure structures present on stacked sections. In this instance, faulting between Indoon-I and Woodada-9 is oriented in a northwest-southeast direction through the survey area. Low fold 3D seismic surveys can be acquired and processed quickly. This method is a useful alternative to the more expensive and time consuming multifold 3D survey technique.
