    Reflective Properties of Aerosols Relative to Environmental Factors

    In this experiment, our objective is to analyze the properties of aerosols using an instrument known as a Nephelometer. Nephelometers are devices that specialize in measuring the light reflection properties of a substance, such as how much light a particular aerosol may reflect. To get a better idea of the most effective aerosol to be utilized in a geoengineering solution, we will use a nephelometer, along with a climate control system designed by us around a stainless steel pipe loop, to measure and compare various aerosols such as sulfuric acid (H2SO4), calcite (CaCO3), and sea salt (NaCl), which will be done to understand the reflective properties of the aerosols and how they relate to environmental variables such as temperature and humidity. The ability of aerosols to reflect solar energy is determined by factors such as the shape of the individual aerosol, and its size, which are greatly influenced by ambient temperature and humidity. In our experiment, we will vary the humidity and temperature of the aerosol and the air it is held within.
